Description

Quiddler is a word game for 1-8 players, ages 8 and up, played over eight rounds with a 118-card deck. Each round, players are dealt an increasing number of cards, from three to ten, and try to form words using their entire hand. Players score points for the letters used in their words, but lose points for any leftover cards, with bonuses for the most and longest words.

Game objective

To score the most points by spelling words with the cards in your hand.

Game setup and turns

The game consists of eight rounds.
In the first round, each player receives three cards, and one additional card is dealt in each subsequent round, up to 10 cards in the final round.
Players draw one card and discard one card during their turn.
At any point, a player can form words with their hand and call “Quiddler”.
Once a player goes out, other players get one more chance to draw and play.

Scoring

Players add up the point values of all letters used in their words.
Players subtract the point values of any cards left in their hand.
A bonus of 10 points is awarded for the longest word and 10 points for the most words in a round. If there is a tie, the bonus is not awarded for that round.

Rules

Words must have a minimum of two cards.
A dictionary should be agreed upon before the game starts, and proper nouns, abbreviations, and hyphenated words are not allowed.
